Justice Markandey Katju stirred a controversy on Frdiay by dismissing gay relationships as nonsense in his blog.

Quoting Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw's play and Hollywood film ' Fatal Attraction ', Justice Katju commented on his blog saying, gay marriages and gay relationships were all ‘humbug and nonsense.’

“Will a gay relationship or gay marriage serve nature's requirement of continuing the species? No, it is only sex between a man and a woman which will give birth to a child, not sex between a man and a man, or between a woman and a woman,” he said.

He further went on to add that the a powerful urge in humans to reproduce is the driving force which ensures that life continues on earth.

Twitter users criticised his comments and mocked him for not using constitutional references but movies and plays to justify his comment.

Harish Iyer, a gay rights activist from Mumbai tweeted saying

so cryptic you are Katju. so that your idiotic views are idiot proof, here is what I interpret. 1. people will... http://t.co/NLMtlWMB8M
