1 arrested in judge bribery case; FIR against 3

The police have registered an FIR against three people and have arrested one of these, in connection with the case against a civil judge who was caught accepting bribe
at Basavakalyan in the district.

The FIR was registered after a complaint was filed by District Principal and Sessions judge Hanchate Sanjeevkumar.

Based on the complaint, FIR has been filed against former civil judge Sharanappa Sajjan and two others, Superintendent of Police C H Sudheer Kumar Reddy told reporters on Wednesday.

Produced in court
The arrested has been identified as Baburao Biradar. He was produced in the court.
He said that all the three have been booked under Sections 7, 8, 12 and 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

 “The additional SP of Basavakalyan is investigating the case. Given the sensitive nature of the case, higher officials have been requested to hand over the probe to the Lokayukta,” the SP said.
