JOIN USThe roof of a house collapsed killing six members of a family, including four children and two women, at Kelageri here on Saturday morning.
According to the police, the incident occurred in Barikara Fakirappa’s house, killing his three daughters Tanusri (5), Huligemma (3) and Khushi (2), his wife’s elder sister Manjamma (35), her daughter Tanusri (11) and his mother-in-law Neelagunda Hanumamma (65). Fakirappa, his wife and their 20-day-old newborn survived the collapse.
The roof of the house was built with mud and was really old, said the police.
The District in-charge Minister P T Parameshwara Naik offered his condolences and announced Rs one lakh compensation for the kin of the dead. MP B Sriramulu and legislator S Bheemanaika promised to rebuild the house.
