Saffron leaders to be more aggressive on Hindutva issue

Last Updated 19 January 2015, 19:41 IST

Dissatisfied with the stand taken by the BJP-led NDA government on issues related to “Hindutva”, saffron leaders have decided to be more “aggressive” in their approach to “ghar vapsi” (“home coming”) programme and Ram Temple construction.

The “discomfort” was clearly visible at the recently concluded “Hindu mahasammelan” here in which a host of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and BJP leaders participated. The saffron leaders were not at all “happy” with the BJP government for the latter’s “ambivalent” stand on the issue of “conversion” and Ram Temple. While firebrand VHP leader and outfit’s international general secretary Praveen Togadia made no bones about his feelings though he chose not to make any direct reference to the Centre, other saffron leaders made a veiled criticism of the NDA regime.

“There is no one in the country to protect the interests of the Hindus. They will have to protect their own interests,” Togadia declared while speaking at the meet. He also openly supported “ghar vapsi” programme and said the VHP would continue to not only encourage it but adopt an aggressive posture on the same.
