'Selfie with Modi' just a store away

Last Updated 25 January 2015, 01:39 IST

To woo young voters, BJP national president Amit Shah on Saturday launched a selfie store at Khan Market here to allow voters to click their own picture with a life-size image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He also slammed AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for his “bribe for vote” remark and put his weight behind Kiran Bedi as the saffron party’s chief ministerial pick who has the solutions for the city’s big problems.

The BJP will set up around 2,500 ‘Selfie with Modi’ booths across the city where people will be able to click their photos with a “virtual Narendra Modi” image, he said.

Countering the AAP charge that Bedi was a leader “borrowed” by the BJP to win Assembly elections, Shah said Bedi is the pride of the saffron party and Kejriwal should bother about himself as he had himself “insulted” the voters with his bribe remark.

“Bedi has been an outstanding police officer and city women are looking up to her for improving their security,” he said.

During her road shows in her Krishna Nagar constituency, Bedi said from atop an open jeep that her meetings with voters have given her the signal that people of Delhi have firm faith in the leadership of the party.

“We will win with a big margin,” she said, assuring people of safety, security and good civic amenities for making the city world-class.

Earlier, in an address to booth in-charges in north-west Delhi, Shah asked party workers to tell voters about what the AAP leader thinks about them.

He appealed to workers to be cautious as the BJP was fighting the election against a party whose base was successful marketing of lies and described Arvind Kejriwal, without naming him, as factory of lies.

Shah said Kejriwal is a man without any conscience as he pledged in the name of his children to fight out Congress during the 2013 Assembly polls but took their support to form the government.

Shah said Kejriwal had earlier said he would not take any car or bungalow but later took both and retained them for long beyond his entitlement.

‘Befitting reply’
Voters in Delhi would give a befitting reply to the AAP and defeat them like the people of Varanasi did during the last Lok Sabha polls when he contested against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said.

Bedi also took out two road shows in Matiala and Shakurbasti constituencies.

Area MP Parvesh Verma and Assembly poll candidate from Matiala Rajesh Gehlot and Shakurbasti nominee S C Vats accompanied in the road shows who assured people of a safe Delhi for all.
