Opposition members in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to manage the Bangalore Development Authority better.

JD (S) MLA Cheluvarayaswamy said the BDA had been reduced to a collection or construction agency. Instead, it should limit itself to distributing sites. BJP MLA Basavaraj Bommai suggested that the BDA should be split for effective administration.

Siddaramaiah, however, claimed that the BDA was slowly doing its work. He did admit that the agency needed regular monitoring for ensuring better performance.25,000 sites distributed.

The distribution of sites in Arkavathi and Kempegowda layouts has begun, he said. Since 2001, the BDA has distributed 25,000 sites in Visvesvaraya Layout, Banashankari 6th Stage Layout and Banashankari and Anjanapura layouts.

Barring the case pending with regard to 72 acres and 30 guntas in Banashankari 6th Stage, the BDA was not facing any legal problem vis-a-vis the formation of layouts, he said.
