'Selection of nominated members after session'

Party receives thousands of applications for nomination

The pending selection of directors and nominated members, will be taken up after the completion of current session, KPCC President Dr G Parameshwar said.

He was speaking to mediapersons after attending the  review meet on party membership enrollment, at Chikkamagaluru district Congress office on Thursday.Thousands of applications have been received towards nomination and the appropriate selection would be made amongst them, he said. 

He will visit every district to gather information from the district leaders and workers of the party regarding the membership enrollment and towards bringing changes in the internal system of the party.

AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi has discussed with the leaders of the Congress on the poor electoral performance of the party, Parameshwar said. 

He said opinion will be collected from leaders and party workers at the district levels regarding party organisation, government policies and development activities.

A draft policy, prepared towards the effective build-up of the party organisation and election strategies, will be forwarded to the party workers and leaders. it is necessary to gather the opinion on the same, from the members of the party in every district, before warranting any change. He had come to the district with this very purpose, he said.

Parameshwar clarified that the party agenda doesn’t contain implementing lottery. Every minister is doing a good job. 

Funds have been reserved for caste based census and the Chief Minister has initiated the same. To a query on imposing ban on Pravin Bhai Thogadia from entering Bengaluru, he said that department of police has the provision within the ambit of law, to impose ban on a person, group or an organisation, attempting to violate law and order. 

The Bengaluru city Commissioner of Police has used his prerogative to do so. The government will not interfere if it is convinced that law and order would not be perturbed.

Congress district unit President D L Vijaykumar, leaders K S Shanthegowda, D K Taradevi, Corporation Board President B C Geetha were present among others.
