BJP workers mark rare win of their own, stand up to Kejriwal crowd

Even as the Bharatiya Janata Party sank in Delhi, a dozen of their supporters stood their ground amidst hundreds of AAP workers to celebrate the victory of the BJP candidate from Vishwas Nagar.

They were teased and mocked by the AAP workers, but except a brief while in between, they took it all in good humour, reports DHNS.

Not a single BJP supporter was visible on Tuesday morning in the area earmarked for supporters of different parties near the counting centre in Akshardham. But at 12 noon, a dozen BJP supporters carrying party flags and wearing orange caps suddenly appeared to begin shouting pro-BJP slogans as Om Prakash Sharma was declared victorious.

While most AAP workers ignored them, a few stood facing them and began shouting back anti-BJP slogans.

“Kiran Bedi ka CM Kejriwal,” shouted an AAP supporter Mohammad Afsar. Soon, more people joined Afsar leading to a confrontation between the two groups. The face-off was disrupted by other AAP workers who cracked a few jokes in a bid to lighten the mood.

“AAP won because you BJP supporters voted for us,” an AAP supporter told a BJP worker who immediately turned emotional.

“If you (AAP) do not perform over the next five years, the public will kick you too on your behind,” the BJP worker Hari Prasad told AAP supporters there.

Another AAP worker then consoled him saying, “Cheer up, at least the Congress hasn’t come to power”. Members of the two parties then climbed a wall to wave their respective party flags together.
