Students, health workers take out awareness jathas

At Chintamani, a jatha was taken out  by students and health workers to create awareness about Pulse Polio among people. 

TP CEO K V Reddappa flagged off the Jatha in front of the government hospital. Students of Mahatma Gandhi Boy’s School and Government Senior Primary School took out a procession through the main streets, raising slogans and carrying posters and banners.
Taluk medical officer Mitranna, Block Education Officer K Manjunath, Mahila Okkuta president Seethamma and others participated in the jatha.

Mitranna informed that 113 booths in the rural area and 40 in urban area, totalling 153 booths have been established. Around 612 vaccinators, 31 supervisors are appointed for the task.

It is a four day  campaign and on the first day Polio drops will be administered at the centre. The other three days staff will go on door to door visit and administer Polio drops to all children from 0-5 years.

Pulse Polio is  national programme to eradicate polio totally and all parents are requested to get their children administered polio drops, he appealed.

Madhugiri gears up

In Madhugiri tahsildar and president of execution committee for Pulse Polio campaign R Nagaraja Shetty said there are a total 26059 children below the age of 5 in both urban and rural areas in Madhugiri and in 120 booths 532 vaccinators will work under 25 supervisors to administer Polio drops.

Adequate Polio drops have been obtained for the purpose and public are appealed to compulsorily get their children administered the drops, he said.

A Jatha by school children was organised on Saturday at Madhugiri on Saturday by Health Department, Rotary Club and Education Department Taluk Health Officer Dr Mubarak, Rotary president.  Head Mistress Gowramma flagged off the Jatha. Hanumappa, taluk government employees Association general secretary T Tippeswamy and others were present.
