Curtains down on Amrutha Mahotsava of Mandya

The three-day Amrutha Mahotsava, being held to celebrate the 75 years of the formation of Mandya district, came to an end with the valedictory ceremony, attended by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on Sunday.

The city was abuzz on three days, since Friday, due of the platinum jubilee celebrations — marked by workshops, seminars, sports meet, felicitations, exhibition, wrestling and cultural programmes, attracting a large number of people.

A huge dais, named after the erstwhile ruler Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, erected at Sir M Visvesvaraya Stadium was witness to speeches of many political leaders, their assurances, felicitations and the artistes enthralling the people with classical, folk and light music programmes.

Most of the dignitaries recalled the contributions of the erstwhile Wadiyar kings of Yadu dynasty in the formation and development of the district after bifurcation from the undivided Mysuru district. Several programmes were held at taluk headquarters also.

Experts discussed various topics including agriculture, industries, judicious use of water, during workshops and seminars. It has been decided to collate all important issues that were discussed, facilitating their use while chalking out plans for the welfare of the district.

Life will be back to normal from Monday, but the celebrations will be cherished by the residents of the district.

Felicitations

Meanwhile, the District Administration had organised a felicitation ceremony for senior journalists at Gandhi Bhavan, in the city, on Sunday. Bebi mutt seer Trinetra Mahanta Shivayogi Swami, District in-charge Minister Ambarish, MLAs N Chaluvarayaswamy and P M Narendraswamy and MP C S Puttaraju were present.
