A 23-year-old man has been arrested for being allegedly involved in a flesh trade racket operated from a residential complex in south Delhi’s Munirka, police said.

The accused has been identified as Harichand Pandit who hails from Bihar’s Begusarai district.

Police said he was held over a complaint filed by a woman claiming that she was forced into prostitution on the pretext of getting a job.

The complainant told police that a woman named Radha and her husband Jaidev took her to the house of a woman named Sangeeta in Gurgaon.

“She was later taken to a house in Munirka,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Prem Nath.

The house in Munirka was owned by Sangeeta’s husband Harichand and Jaidev was staying there to look into the gang’s activities.

The victim claimed that she came to know that the gang was planning to sell her for Rs 25,000 and she would be forced into prostitution.

Finding an opportunity, she managed to flee and informed police.
A case under sections 370-2, 343, 506, and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code has been registered with Vasant Vihar police station.

On Tuesday, police received inputs that Harichand would come to Munirka on Tuesday.

“A trap was laid near Aggarwal Sweets in Munirka and Harichand was arrested,” Nath added.

On questioning, Harichand told police that the gang was involved in human trafficking by luring girls, including minors, on the pretext of jobs.
Raids are being conducted to nab other members of the gang.
