In a case of mistaken identity, India’s star batsman Virat Kohli lost his top and hurled abuses at a journalist from a national daily after the team’s practice session here at the Murdoch University facilities on Tuesday.

As Kohli was walking towards the change room after his practice session, he came across this particular scribe, who was chatting up with the in-charge of the practice arrangements, and began his rant. For a moment, no one, including that journalist, realised what was going on and looked on in horror as Kohli let out the choicest of English and Hindi abuses at him.

When the journalist asked the batsman if his ire was directed at him only, Kohli confirmed so by abusing him again. Even as the stunned scribe tied to make sense of what was happening, Kohli stormed into the dressing room only to realise that he had picked up the wrong person.

Kohli apparently told someone in the dressing room about a story on him and his girlfriend and actress Anushka Sharma that appeared during India’s tour of England and when he was made aware that he had mistaken both the newspaper and the journalist who wrote it, he sent out an apology through another journalist in the vicinity.
