Six UP cops suspended for kicking women

A day before the International Women’s Day, UP cops kicked and thrashed women in state’s Unnao district, while latter were holding a protest demonstration after three youths were knocked down by a speeding vehicle.

According to the reports, one youth died and two others seriously injured after their motorcycle collided head on with the vehicle at Ganga Ghat area in the district on Friday.

A large number of people, including women, came out on the streets and held demonstration. The mob also assaulted the driver of the vehicle, reports said.

A police team, which arrived at the spot later, caned the crowd in a bid to disperse them. They also did not spare the women.

A video that captured the police brutality and went viral on the internet showed two cops kicking a woman, who lay on the ground.

Taking a serious view of the incident, the state government on Saturday ordered suspension of six cops, including the SHO of the local police station.
