If you have been working hard just before a party night, a few ‘pick-me-up’ tips will help. Even the smallest of details count when it comes to good grooming. Believe me, chipped nail varnish or untidy hair can ruin the entire effect even if you are wearing a Prada outfit.
Give yourself a manicure and pedicure the day before the big night. After you soak hands and feet in warm water, massage with a rich cream, so that the skin is smooth and soft. A good pick-me-up treatment for hands is to rub them with sugar and lemon juice. Pay attention to details like waxing and threading too, at least a day ahead of the big party.

A face mask can leave your skin clean and glowing. Cleanse the skin. Mix honey with egg white and apply it on the face. Wash off with water after 20 minutes. For those with very dry skin, mix half a teaspoon honey, an egg yolk or pure almond oil and one teaspoon milk powder. Mix into a paste and apply on the face. Leave it on for half an hour and rinse off with water. After washing off the pack, give the skin a compress with cotton wool pads soaked in rose water.

The rose-water soaked cotton wool pads can be used as eye pads too. Lie down with the eye pads on. This is extremely relaxing and a great restorer of both body and mind. It helps to remove fatigue and brighten the eyes. Used tea bags can also do the trick. Soak them in a little warm water, squeeze out the water and apply on the eyes.

What do you do if a pimple suddenly makes an appearance? Just apply foundation over it. Wait for it to dry and then apply foundation on the entire face. Touch up the pimple again with foundation. Then apply powder to ‘set’ the foundation.

To conceal pits left by acne scars, choose a foundation which is a shade or two lighter than the one you use on your entire face. Apply the light foundation into the pits, using a fine brush. A concealer can also be used. Then, apply your regular foundation on the rest of the face.

For hands and nails, mix almond oil and honey in equal parts and massage into the nails and cuticles. Leave on for 15 minutes and wipe off with a moist towel. Mix together 3 tablespoons of rose water with one tablespoon each glycerin and lemon juice. Apply on hands and feet and leave for half an hour. Wash off with plain water.

If your hair is looking dull, give it a quick conditioning treatment before you shampoo it. Mix one teaspoon each of vinegar and honey with one egg.  Beat them together well. Massage the mixture into the scalp. Then wrap the hair in a hot towel for 20 minutes, before washing the hair. Your hair will have more body and look shiny and manageable.
Give your hair a tea-water and lemon rinse after shampoo, to add shine. Boil used tea leaves again in enough water. After boiling, you should have about 4 cups of tea-water. Cool and strain it. Then add the juice of a lemon and use it as a last rinse after shampoo.
Now, more often than not, we never have the time to shampoo. A quick emergency treatment is what you need. Sprinkle a little eau de cologne on your hair brush and brush your hair. It absorbs oil and leaves your hair cleaner and fragrant.
