Last Updated 08 April 2015, 20:31 IST

Decks have been cleared for the Namma Metro to operate trains on Reach 3B from Peenya to Nagasandra after the Commissioner for Railway Safety on Wednesday gave a safety certificate after conducting the inspection on this stretch.

The inspection on this stretch got over on April 2 and certificate was awaited by the BMRCL officials.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Officials (BMRCL), said that only the safety certification was awaited from the Commissioner for Railway Safety (Metro) for the commercial operations to begin as everything else is ready.

Officials said that its a matter of days for the commercial operations to begin on this stretch. State government will be informed about the same and the stretch will be thrown open for public, they added.

BMRCL Managing Director Pradeep Singh Kharola said: “The stretch will be opened within a few days after consulting with the State government”. Already, all the civil works are over at the three stations- Jalahalli, Dasarahalli and Nagasandra. Once the stretch opens, it will add a length of 3.7 kilometres to the existing 10 kilometres which constitute Reach 3 and 3A.

Reach 3 and 3A which runs between Sampige Road and Peenya Industry was opened on March 1, 2014, and the BMRCL had then announced that the Reach 3B would be opened within the next three months but that deadline could not be met.
