Tulunad Mansa Samaja Seva Sangha leaders have called upon the community people to mention their sub-caste as ‘Mansa’ in the upcoming caste-based census, without any hesitation. They have opined that it is a golden opportunity to add ‘Mansa’ community to the list of castes.

Honorary President P Deekaiah extended complete support to caste-based census which is being done in the nation after 1931 and opined that it is helpful for the development of downtrodden. The people belonged to ‘Mansa’ community are in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga and Kodagu. They take caste certificate in different names like as they don’t want people call them as ‘Mansa’. But, there is nothing bad in the word ‘Mansa’ and without proper registration they would loss government facilities. So, community people should choose subcast name ‘Mansa’- no. 799 in the list, he said.

Meanwhile, he clarified that Scheduled Caste is not a caste and there is no code word for it. It is a word which represents big community. Deekaiah said:” though there are different opinions about caste census, caste is a fact in India. We can leave it, but the shadow will follow. So, there should be change in the mentality. Inequality in society should be eradicated first.” Central Committee President Achyutha Sampige, Organising Convenors M Ramesh Bhodhi, Raju Padangadi, Chennappa Kakyepadau and Satish P were present.
