Janaspandana is losing its purpose and meaning, says MLA

He was speaking at the hobli-level Janaspandana programme after distributing sanction letters to beneficiaries at Kothagere in Kunigal taluk on Saturday. It is saddening see that Janaspandana programme is loosing its purpose and meaning and people are turning away from these programmes, he added.

The problems brought to the notice of officials by people during Janaspanadana programme should be solved on the spot to make it a success, he told officials. Expressing his displeasure over the works taken up by Kothagere gram panchayat under MGREGs, Gowda said that  works worth only Rs 28 lakh had been taken up. He said that more works should be taken up under scheme.

Villagers angry with MLA

The villagers especially women took MLA to task for inefficient distribution of food grains through fair price shop under Public Distribution System (PDS). They have urged MLA to take steps restore proper distribution.

He directed tahsildar to conduct surprise visits to check whether fair price shops were adhering to government rules. He urged them to take legal action against the shops which were violating the rules.

Taluk Panchayat President Varalakshmi, Gram Panchayat president Narayan, member Srinivas and others spoke on the occasion. TMC President Rajeshwari Sugandaraju, tahsildar Prabhakar Reddy, TP Planning Balaraju an d taluk-level officials from various department took part. However the absence of Bescom officials in the meeting was criticised.
