Training imparted to poll officers in Madikeri

Training was imparted to gram panchayat election officers, at the old fort hall in Madikeri on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner, M Sathish Kumar said election will be held to 102 gram panchayats in the district. The officials should ensure that the polling is peaceful and should not give scope for any confusion. The Deputy Commissioner will issue the notification on May 11. May 18 is the last date for submitting nominations.

The scrutiny of nominations will be held on May 19. May 21 is the last date to withdraw the nominations.

The election will be held on May 29 from 7 am to 5 pm.

In case of necessity, re election will be held on May 31.


Somwarpet taluk Tahsildar Shivappa said that election will be held to 40 Gram Panchayats in Somwarpet taluk.

Trainer Chales D’Souza and Diwakar spoke on the guidelines to be followed wheile scrutinising the nominations.
