<p>An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was injured after a rashly driven motorcycle rammed into a barricade he was manning at Janpath during the wee hours of Sunday.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The two motorcycle riders managed to gather themselves and ride away before the victim policeman’s colleagues could apprehend them. <br /><br />A police officer said that even though the culprits continue to roam free, it is only a matter of time before they are nabbed.<br /><br />A case of rash driving and causing hurt has been registered at Parliament Street police station based on the victim’s statement after he was treated at RML Hospital. <br /><br />He sustained injuries to both his legs, but is said to be out of danger.The victim Ramnivas is deployed with the Parliament Street police station. <br /><br />His duty was at a check post on the Janpath Road-Rajendra Prasad Crossing from 11 on Saturday to Sunday morning. <br /><br />He had two other policemen for company. The incident took place at 3.50 am. The three policemen noticed two youths riding a motorcycle and heading towards them from Rajpath side. <br /><br />Ramnivas said in his statement to police that the motorcycle was being driven rashly which prompted them to signal the motorcycle to stop.<br /><br />Finding the two policemen blocking their way, the motorcycle rider steered the vehicle towards Ramnivas who was standing at the opposite end.<br /><br />Ramnivas tried to run for cover, but the motorcycle rammed into the barricades. The policeman was hit on the legs by the barricades, causing him to fall. <br /><br />The motorcycle riders too fell, but they picked themselves immediately and managed to ride away before the other two policemen could recover and nab them.<br /><br />One of the two policemen then called the police control room (PCR) number for assistance upon which Ramnivas was rushed to RML Hospital. The suspects are being hunted, said police.<br /><br /> <br /></p>
