Four men have been arrested for robbing nearly 275 kilo silver at gunpoint from the employees of a cargo company while the goods were being transported from Old Delhi railway station two weeks ago.

The total worth of the robbed silver was pegged at over Rs 1 crore.

Police said they have recovered 80 kilo silver worth about Rs 32 lakh. Efforts are on to recover the remaining robbed booty.

One of the dacoits had come dressed in police uniform at the time of the armed robbery on May 11.

They had also abducted the cargo company employees and dumped them in Noida before fleeing with the silver.

Investigations have revealed that the robbers had been tipped off by one Sunil, a handcart puller who was hired to transport the silver. He is among those arrested.
Police were informed about the robbery by Amit Kumar, manager-cum-partner of Rail Cargo Company whose goods were robbed.

He had sent his workers Govind and Dilip along with two handcart pullers to collect a delivery of 11 cartons of silver jewellery which were arriving from Rajkot by train.
The employees were carrying the cartons on a hand-drawn cart when they were suddenly waylaid by a Scorpio.

There were a total of four persons, one of who was in police uniform and carrying a pistol.

These men abducted the employees and took them away in their Scorpio.
Within moments, a Xylo arrived at the spot from which three men alighted and loaded the vehicle with four cartons.

Meanwhile, the kidnapped employees were deserted in a forested area in Noida.
When police checked the crime spot, a total of four cartons carrying silver jewellery worth over Rs 1 crore were found missing.

Several raids in Delhi and neighbouring areas helped police nab two suspects in Noida. Their interrogation led police to their other two accomplices. Police said they were not found to be involved in any other crime.
