For a majority of people who came to attend the Delhi cabinet’s public meeting at Connaught Place on Monday, the common sentiment was the Aam Aadmi Party government had fared “better” in 100 days than the previous governments.

However, the pace of implementation of the projects was not as was “expected”, they said. With the Delhi government giving out forms where the public can raise questions on the progress achieved so far, people raised their concerns on the status of the Jan Lokpal Bill, Wi-Fi connection in the city to wastewater management. “I have sought a response on the status of the Jan Lokpal Bill,” said Chaitanya Mitra, a resident of Gautam Nagar.

For 72-year-old P N Sharma, the party’s releasing the pensions for widows was the “most visible change” till now. “I am satisfied with the overall performance of the party. The Centre is not letting the Chief Minister work,” said Sharma, a resident of Shakur Basti.

The same sentiment was echoed by Priyanka Chauhan, 27. “This party is against corruption. This is why it is facing challenges from the government at the Centre,” said the student of Chartered Accountancy. A few others were happy with the pocket-friendly electricity and water bills since the AAP came to power.

“There is no shortage in water supply in our locality anymore,” said Anil Kumar Agrari, a businessman in Paharganj. Some youngsters were, however, disappointed with the progress in implementation of projects by the government.

“The Wi-Fi project needs to be paced up. That was one of the selling points of the party before elections. Also, the water problem in Dwarka, where I live, is still persisting,” said Rajiv Arya, an MPhil student at Delhi University.

Some were keen to seek detailed answers on promises made by the party. While someone from the audience sought a response on the heavy traffic jams in the city on the form, another person asked how will the party cleanse the entire system off corruption. “The party is better than the prior governments. I asked for a response on wastewater management and how the government is planning to revive the Yamuna which has turned highly polluted,” said Radhakrishna, 24, a resident of Noida.
