Thieves divert driver's attention, take away gold worth Rs 30 lakh

Two motorcycle-borne men stole a bag containing jewellery worth around Rs 30 lakh worth of jewellery from an Audi car, after they diverted the attention  of its owner’s in west Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh area on Friday.

The men have not been identified yet as they were wearing helmets at the time of the crime.

A case in this connection has been registered at Punjabi Bagh police station and efforts are being made to identify the suspects, said police.

The victims have been identified as Tasmeet Singh, 30, and his father Surender.
Residents of Rajouri Garden, the father-son have a jewellery business.

They were travelling to work in their Audi car on Friday afternoon when this incident took place.

They had kept two bags in the car. One bag contained jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh while the other was holding lunch.

Knocked on window
Their car halted at a traffic signal in Moti Nagar when two men on a motorcycle suddenly knocked at their car window.

Tasmeet was told that there was something leaking from the back of his car which required his urgent attention.

Tasmeet got off the car to check and his father quickly followed him to the backside of the car.

They, however, could find nothing wrong with the car which aroused their suspicion.
They got back into the car to check if all was alright, but it wasn’t.

The two bags were missing and so were the two men who had alerted them.
Police were informed and a case registered.

But since the victims had not registered the faces of the suspects owing to their helmets, police have been unable to make any headway in the case.
