Wig crashes wedding in UP

The old woman only wanted to bless the groom, but little did she know that it would end the marriage.

On touching the groom’s head, his wig fell down, exposing the shining bald head and with that crashing dreams of a happy married life.

The shocked and furious bride refused to marry, and the groom’s side was held hostage by the bride’s family for several hours for hiding the truth, which they felt was tantamount to cheating.

The bizarre incident took place at Dahkhedi village in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district, about 500 km from here, on Thursday night.

According to reports, the wedding party arrived on Thursday evening. Everything went well till the “salami” (a ritual in Muslim weddings).

The groom’s wig fell after an old woman put her hand on his head to bless him.

The bride refused to go ahead with the “Nikah”. She said that the groom had not told her earlier that he was bald.

The wedding party was held hostage by the bride’s family who demanded them to bear the expenses.

The matter was resolved after elders intervened, followed by an assurance by the groom’s parents to take care of the expenditure.
