Kannada actress Roopashree has never been in a hurry be it choosing scripts or signing projects. This approach didn’t change even when she wanted to find the perfect man for a life partner. Now, engaged to Niraj, a Kolkata-based businessman, she will tie the knot with him in November in Bengaluru.

“I’ve always wanted my wedding to be very different. The costume, jewellery, makeup and the entire arrangements must get people talking. It must create a buzz among those who attend the wedding,” says Roopashree who doesn’t want to reveal the date of the wedding just as yet.

Recollecting how they first met, Roopashree says common friends brought them together and they began chatting in a few days.

“He’s an honest and straight-forward person. He’s full of life and never ceases to make me laugh. What instantly struck me about him is that he’s very respectful about my profession as an actress and his parents are also supportive,” confesses Roopashree.

After the couple spent a good amount of time trying to understand each other, they visited each other’s homes and spent time with the families as well.

“It’s only when I visited his parents in Kolkata did I understand where he got all the respect from. Everybody in his household are very courteous and extremely respectful.  They told me that I could work as long as I wanted to and quit only when I feel like. This reaction is quite uncommon in the South,” she says.

She feels it’s the unconditional love and warmth that truly sets Niraj and his family apart.

Niraj doesn’t understand Kannada but that didn’t stop him from watching Roopshree’s film, “He did watch ‘Horror Film’ and seemed to have liked the concept. He understands people very well and is non-judgemental. He doesn’t indulge in false praises just to impress someone,” she reasons.

Roopashree confesses that she has a couple of projects in hand that she will complete before the wedding. “I hope to take a month off prior to the wedding. I’ve already begun shopping,” she says excitedly.

Niraj shares the same sentiments as Roopashree when he says, “I was aware that Roopashree is a popular actress down South even before we met. I’ve a lot of friends in the film industry and I truly respect her profession and I admire the way she has chosen her projects.”

He doesn’t  want to comment much about the preparations of the wedding but says that the wedding will be planned by Roopashree and will indeed be a grand affair.
