Two men have been arrested for killing a 30-year-old woman and her two children in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar last week. The attack was planned by a relative of the woman who used to threaten that she would lodge a case against him, police said.

Main accused Deepak was found dead near railway tracks in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district on June 6. The probe was initiated after Deepmala and her children Saksham and Vaishnavi were found dead at their rented house in Uttam Nagar’s Mohan Garden on June 1.

An investigation revealed that Deepmala used to threaten Deepak  that she will file a case alleging domestic violence by him against his wife Madhu. Over the last few months, Deepmala had been mediating to improve Deepak and Madhu’s relationship.

“Deepmala used to scold Deepak to mend his ways and threatened that a police case will be filed against him,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Pushpendra Kumar.

Deepak then involved Rajesh and Gulshan to help him in his plan to take revenge.
Deepmala’s husband Amit Kumar, an inspector with Delhi Excise Department, is posted in the office of Chief Commissioner Excise and Service Tax. On the fateful day, Amit had found the main gate of the house locked on returning from office. “Amit made several calls to Deepmala’s mobile phone, but in vain,” Kumar added.

After waiting for about an hour at the neighbour’s house, Amit had entered the house through the balcony to find the bodies with slit throat. He raised an alarm on which the neighbours broke open the door from outside.

On being questioned, Amit told police that he suspected involvement of Deepak. A police team went to Saharanpur and were told that Deepak was found dead near the railway tracks.
On the basis of the call data records of Deepak’s mobile phone, police arrested Rajesh and Gulshan. They revealed that Deepak had planned to kill Deepmala and rob the house.

On June 1, the three men went to Deepmala’s house and killed her. They also took cash and jewellery. “As they were seen by Saksham and Vaishnavi, they took the children to the bathroom and slit their throats. They locked the main gate of the house and left for Saharanpur,” Kumar said.
