Govt blamed for Charmadi Ghat gridlock

Last Updated 16 June 2015, 17:42 IST

The State government is directly responsible for 10-hour block on Charmadi Ghat stretch on Sunday night, Member of Legislative Assembly B B Ningaiah said.

Briefing reporters, on Tuesday, he said without making preparation to make Charmadi Ghat feasible for increasing density of traffic, the Shiradi Ghat stretch was closed for facilitating the road work.

It clearly shows the failure of the State government.

Dakshina Kannada and Chikkamagaluru district administration have failed in taking precautionary measures on the stretch.

As the stretch do not have storm water drains, rain water flows on the road itself.
The MLA said that Rs 50 lakh has been released for the repair of Government Boys PU College in Mudigere and Banakal Pre University College buildings.

Rs 40 lakh has been released for the repair of schools and college buildings and for the construction of toilets in schools and colleges in the constituency, the MLA further added.
