Punjabi continues to dominate

Overnight leader Vijay Punjabi continued his good run on day three by maintaining a narrow lead of six pins over Akaash Ashok Kumar in the Karnataka State Tenpin Bowling Championship at the PVR Blu O in Orion Mall here on Wednesday.

In the medium oil pattern, Punjabi started on a high note with a 218, 194 and 249 in the first, second and third games respectively.  He shot a poor 156 in game four but managed to recover with two high games of 215 and 204.

The former national champion stayed on top with a total pinfall of 3754 after 18 games for an average of 208.56.

Tuesday’s stand-out performer Akaash had a mixed day, scoring 210, 189, 224, 181 & 174 in the first five games.

But Akaash came back strongly with a high performance of 257 in the sixth to finish the day with a total pinfall of 3748 for an average of 208.22.

 Parvez Ahmed maintained his third position with a total pinfall in 3602 for an average of 200.11 

Varun Ganapathy is placed fourth with a total pinfall of 3593, averaging 199.61.
Top 24 bowlers will bowl six games on short oil pattern on Thursday and top 12 bowlers, ranked based on total pinfall of 24 games, will move to round 3 to be held on Friday.
