A  developer in Qatar, the low-lying state on the east cost of the Arabian Peninsula, has announced plans to build the country’s first water park inside a residential tower in the capital city of Doha.

Amwaj Suites and Residences will include several swimming pools, an artificial wave pool and water rides at the base of a tower likely to be 29 levels high, Al Bandary Real Estate general manager Maen Al Haj told Arabian Business.

The firm has signed a management agreement with White Water, a Canadian company that also runs the Atlantis on the Palm Jumeirah and Yas water park in Abu Dhabi. Only very selected people would be chosen to purchase property in the luxury development and it would be the most luxurious tower in Doha.

Construction is due to begin this year and take three years for completion. Al Bandary, which already has several residential and retail developments in Doha, has also announced a 28-floor residential tower called The Dream, to be built under the Lusail City masterplan, overlooking a marina.

All of the residences will be duplexes of one, two or three bedrooms, with swimming pools on each balcony. Given that the Doha residential market was “booming”, Lusail, located north of the Doha city centre, could become a satellite capital.

The privately-owned developer is also building the new Doha Souq and already has completed Al Kheesa Gate Villas within Lusail City.
