Punjabi, Judy clinch titles in fine fashion

 Pace-setters Vijay Punjabi and Judy Allan deservingly emerged men’s and women’s champions respectively in the Karnataka State Tenpin Bowling Championship here at the Blu O bowling alley on Friday.

In men’s category, played on challenge-the-leader format, Punjabi lost the opening game 198-216 but came back strongly in the next game, defeating Akaash Ashok Kumar 216-195.
In the other matches, Parvez Ahmed edged out Varun N Ganapathy 203-194 in his opening game but lost 225-245 to Akaash in the next game.

In the final of  women’s category, Judy scored a narrow 177-172 win over Pooja Hegde.
Earlier, at the end of 32 games in men’s category, Punjabi emerged on top with a total pinfall of 6725 followed by Akaash (6593), Parvez (6310) and Varun (6259). The quartet then moved into the step ladder round where Punjabi emerged victorious.

At the end of 20 games in women’s category, Judy emerged on top with a total pinfall of 3699 followed by Pooja Hegde (3224) and Swetha Urs (3058).

Special prizes: Highest score in single game (men): Varun N Ganapathy (289); Highest score in single game (women): Radhika K (226); Highest average in 6-game block: Vijay Punjabi (218); Maximum number of scores above 225: Vijay Punjabi (12). Youth category:  Subramanya U 1; Kishan R 2.
