Lecturer aspirants to wait till revised notification

A meeting organised by a section of PU college lecturer aspirants, regarding the confusion over appointment guidelines, resolved to wait till the announcement of final notification of the department of PU Education.

Sunil, a candidate said that the Department has decided to postpone the process of appointment to iron out the disparities in the previous notification. The Department had recently invited applications to fill 1,130 lecturers posts in the State.

“However, there are several issues with respect to roster system in the notification. One of the concerns was that physically challenged candidates were exempted in the same,” he said. 

While the general criteria of minimum marks required to qualify for any exams are 55 per cent for candidates from general category and 50 per cent for SC/ST candidates, the previous notification required 55 per cent marks irrespective of quota, he said. Apart from that, making B Ed mandatory for computer science candidates has also been opposed, he said.

He added that representatives of candidates had submitted memorandums to the department recently. The department has promised to address the issue soon, failing which it has been planned to stage a protest, he said.
