A 26-year-old woman has ended her life, allegedly by hanging at her husband’s house, in Mysuru, on Monday. She was working as a junior engineer with the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL), K R Pet in Mandya district.

Navyashri, wife of Roopesh, a research scholar at the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysuru, is the deceased.

According to Mandi Police, the couple was married a year ago and was staying on Umar Khayyam Road, Tilak Nagar, here. Recently, they had a disagreement over a message received on WhatsApp on Navyashri’s cellphone. A friend of Navyashri had addressed her in a pleasant language and Roopesh had noticed it. So, Roopesh had questioned his wife.

On Monday, Navyashri returned home from work and called her husband to enquire if he was upset. Roopesh, who replied in the positive, expressed to have a talk with her after returning home, before hanging up the call.

During evening hours, Navyashri’s in-laws grew suspicious and knocked on her room door. When she didn’t open the door, they peeped through the window and found her hanging from the ceiling. She has not left behind any death note, the police clarified.
