Celebrating the concept of meditation as a spiritual practice, hues of green, yellow and blue smeared the canvas in abstract moorings in a group exhibition titled ‘Cerebration: The Power of Thought’ mounted at  Art Life Gallery, Noida.

Through meditation one is able to look deeper inwards and enter the super-conscious zone of the mind. Exploring it as a spiritual practice that enriches soul and leads to supreme bliss and enlightenment, six artists throw open a web of mind exploration.
The participating artists are Amrit Kapoor, Santanu Sarkar, Garima Singh, Chitralekha Singh, S S Kukkal and Jnanes Sekhar Roy.

“The happiness derived from meditation doesn’t require any money or travel, is not exhausting, fattening or toxic and doesn’t need anyone or anything else to be experienced. It’s free and limitless and beyond any sensual experience I have ever had,” says Kukkal. “The only way to describe the joy you can give yourself in meditation is that if it were food, it would be the most healthy, sublime and delicious,” adds Kukkal explaining his painting of a man sitting in Dhyan Mudra.

Most of the works focus on introspection and self-examination. In today’s time when there is a conflict between peace and desire, materialism and spirituality, these paintings hint at what every human being should be seeking – peace.

Another artist Amrit Kapoor and an art teacher says,“ I simply love the feeling of being in the reflective state while painting and get closer to finding the meaning of life.”

Kapoor, in fact, has drawn from personal experiences and says, “The pleasure I get when I sit for meditation has expanded exponentially. I can’t understand it or explain it. I am still sitting like I always have, but suddenly what I am experiencing can only be described as bliss.”

The exhibition encourages understanding and appreciation of artworks covering the theme of spiritual meditation and introspection, thereby, directly engaging and leaving an indelible print in the minds of art lovers.
