Close shave for DL aspirants, as tree uproots at RTO

Seven two-wheelers, electric poles damaged

Driving licence (DL) aspirants at the office of the regional transport office (RTO), West, on Ambedkar Road near Srikanteshwara Iyer Circle, here, had a miraculous escape after a huge tree inside the compound, got uprooted on Thursday. A total of seven two-wheelers were damaged in the incident.

Netra from Bannimantap, who was waiting for her turn to take a test ride for driving licence, along with others had a brush with death, as the huge neem tree got uprooted close to her. It was around 1 pm and owing to the delayed arrival of the inspector, the licence aspirants were waiting when the mishap occurred.

While Netra came under the tree, others had a miraculous escape. It took sometime for Netra to come to terms, as she was in a state of shock. She was inconsolable when the people around tried to pacify her. She was treated as an outpatient at a nearby hospital.

The office building and the electric poles on the premises were also damaged. Upon receiving the information, Mysuru City Corporation personnel arrived on the spot and rescued Netra, besides clearing the damaged vehicles and also the tree.
