Siddharth in semis; Ashwini-Mithula win

 Second seed Siddharth ES of iSports continued his fine form to move into the under-19 boys’  semifinals of the CUCT Junior State-ranking badminton tournament at the Canara Union on Thursday.

Siddharth eased past club-mate Sai Pratheek Krishna Prasad 21-13 21-14 in his last-8 clash. In the girls’ under-17 doubles final, Ashwini Bhat and Mithula UK edged past top-seeded pair Apeksha Nayak and and Deepthi Ramesh 21-17, 21-14 to clinch the title.  

In the girls’ under-19 singles section, Mahima Aggarwal breezed past Archana Pai 21-13, 21-7 in the semifinals to set up a title clash with Deepthi Ramesh who entered the final after Apeksha Nayak had to retire in the other semifinals. Apeksha retired trailing 4-11 in the second set, having lost the first set 14-21.
