<p>With heavy rains lashing the catchment area of Kumaradhara river and Gundya stream, the inflow of water has increased and has flooded Kumaradhara Bridge near Subrahmanya and Hosmata Bridge on Uppinangady-Kadaba state highway on Friday. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The flooding of Kumaradhara Bridge caused inconvenience to the devotees. The movement of road on Subrahmanya-Mangaluru State highway was suspended till afternoon. <br /><br />With river Kumaradhara overflowing, the snanaghatta (bathing ghat) has been inundated. As a result, the devotees had to perform “Theerthasnana” on the banks of the river. Water had even entered into the shops nearby snanaghatta. <br /><br />The flooding of the bridge also affected the movement of vehicles on Dharmasthala-Subrahmanya, Uppinangady-Subrahmanya, Bengaluru-Subrahmanya road. With the closure of the road, the devotees remained stranded on either side of the road. <br /><br />With the river and water bodies overflowing, the low-lying areas of Hariharapallathadka, Kollamogru, Guthigaru, Panja, Balpa, Enekal, Ninthikal, Bilinele, Nettana. Water has entered into the farm land. A retaining wall constructed to a water body has collapsed at Devaragadde near Subrahmanya.<br /><br />The movement of vehicles on Subrahmanya-Hariharapallathadka road has been affected with a huge boulder slipping on the road at Devaragadde. The schools and colleges in the vicinity had declared holiday on Friday. <br /><br />A compound wall of a house collapsed following heavy rain at Jattipalla near Sullia.The flooding of Hosmata bridge blocked the state highway for eight hours. The water started flowing on the bridge at 5 am and continued till 2 pm. <br /><br />There was about eight feet water on the bridge. This caused inconvenience to the students of Kadaba, Ramakunja, Subrahmanya. The supply of essential commodities like milk was also affected. With the closure of the road, the vehicles travelled via Ichlampady-Nelyadi. <br /><br />As the work on a new bridge adjacent to the existing bridge at Hosmata is in progress, it affected the easy flow of water. Kadaba Special Tahsildar B Ningaiah visited the spot. <br /><br />Warning<br /><br />The Meteorological Department has warned fishermen not to venture into sea for fishing in the next 24 hours with strong onshore winds from Southwesterly direction speed occasionally reaching 45 to 55 kmph likely along and off Karnataka coast. </p>
