Bengaluru 10K Challenge on Sunday

The promoters of the Bengaluru marathon on Thursday launched the first edition of Bengaluru 10K Challenge here on Thursday.

The event, which will be held is association with Karnataka Amateur Athletic Association (KAAA), is expected to witness around 6,000 participants from across the country and will carry a total prize money of Rs 11 lakh. 

There will be two time-bound races within the event - the 10K Challenge and 5K Challenge which will start at 6:30 am and 7:50 am respectively on NICE Road, Banshankari Toll Gate on Sunday. 

In addition to these two events, there will also be a 5K charity run, starting 7:50 am. This will see over 60 visually impaired students as well as HIV infected children running this event. All registration proceeds will go towards charity. 

Nagaraj Adiga, the race director and marathoner said: “The idea behind organising such an event is to encourage people to run. Hopefully, this is the beginning of something which year upon year will get bigger and tougher.”

“This event will the first step towards preparing ourselves for the Bengaluru marathon later this year,” he added.

A 6KM stretch on one side of the NICE road will be blocked from 9.00 pm on Saturday to 9.00 am on Sunday.
