Aam Aadmi Party MLA from east Delhi’s Kondli Manoj Kumar was arrested on the basis of a forensic report by the Delhi government’s Forensic Science Laboratory, sources said on Thursday.

During the forensic examination, the signatures found on the agreement with New Ashok Nagar-resident Vijay Kumar matched with Manoj’s official signature.

The crime occurred in May 2012, but the case was registered in May 2014 with New Ashok Nagar police station.

Sources added that Manoj is among 21 AAP MLAs against whom Delhi Police have reportedly decided to file chargesheets in connection with criminal cases.

Manoj’s arrest also came exactly a month after AAP’s MLA from Tri Nagar Jitender Singh Tomar was arrested on charges of possessing fake BSc and LLB degrees.

On Thursday, Manoj was called to New Ashok Nagar police station for questioning in the case around 10.30 am.

Police said a notice under section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure was served asking him to join the probe.

Later in the day, Manoj was placed under arrest and taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital before being produced at Karkardooma Court.

Vijay claimed that Manoj and a man named Lakhpat run a property dealing business ‘Sapna Estate’ at east Delhi’s Mayur Vihar.

In 2012, Manoj and Lakhpat had contacted Vijay and showed him a plot at Rajvir Colony in Gharoli village.

“Manoj claimed that the plot belonged to him and he wanted to sell it. The negotiations were held at Sapna Estate and it was decided that the plot will be sold at Rs 21.60 lakh,” Vijay stated in the FIR.

On November 7, 2012, Manoj showed himself as the owner of the plot on a stamp paper.
Vijay alleged that Manoj took Rs 6 lakh as advance for the plot and a man named Kumarpal Singh and Lakhpat were witnesses in the agreement.

Following the agreement, Vijay alleged that he had contacted Manoj for the registry of the plot and Manoj said that he is an AAP MLA and didn’t want to talk to people like him.

Vijay made inquiries about the plot and learnt that the actual owner is a man named M L Singh, who stays at Rajvir Colony.

Vijay said he spoke to Singh, who told him that he never sold the plot to Manoj and Manoj has no connection with the plot.

Vijay further alleged that when he asked Manoj to return his money, Manoj claimed that he is an MLA from AAP and there is nothing that Vijay could do about it.
