Some students who noticed the flames informed the security guard at the VC’s office who alerted the police and the fire personnel.
The building which stocked the evaluated answer sheets had no security guard. The answer sheets were of examinations for different courses held a few years ago. The university is yet to file a complaint.
Micreants’ handiwork
However, BU officials claimed that the fire could be the handiwork of miscreants. Dr MS Talwar, Registrar Evaluation, BU said, “The answer scripts that were set afire were of previous years and hence students need not be worried. The extent of damage is yet to be ascertained. The incident reflects on the possibility of miscreants who want to defame the evaluation department of BU”.
