The domestic arm of the South Korean consumer durables major will introduce 3D models of LCD, LED and plasma television sets in the overseas markets by March-end, and will launch them in the domestic market by June. "The 3D televisions will be launched globally by the end of March. Depending on the demand, we definitely, plan to introduce it here two months later," Samsung Southeast Asia president and chief executive Jung Soo Shin said here.

The 3D televisions are those that can operate in three-dimensional mode (besides regular 2D mode) showing other details such as the depth and heights of the visuals. The company is also looking at expanding its range in the LED segment as it hopes to increase its sales. "Last year, we did a limited launch of our LEDs. We will increase the range this year. We feel there's potential for it here," Shin said.

The company had launched LEDs last July and sold around 60,000 units since then. According to industry experts, the flat screen TV market is growing at over 50 per cent and is expected to become 1.5 million units this year.

Shin said he is looking at a better growth this year as against last year on the back of its flat panels particularly the LED segment and mobile phone category. "We have very ambitious target this year," Shin said. Samsung India has been growing at 30 per cent since the past few years and has already crossed UDS 2 billion turnover-mark.
