Verma, Karthick help Assam take lead

Suchith grabs five but KSCA XI face stiff fight

A near-century effort from Karnataka export Amit Verma and an equally effective knock by KB Arun Karthick, a former Tamil Nadu and Royal Challengers Bangalore’s batsman, enabled Assam Cricket Association gain a handy 107-run lead against KSCA XI on the second day of their four-day match in the Dr (Capt) K Thimmappaiah memorial cricket tournament here at the Chinnaswamy stadium on Monday.

Verma, who had migrated to Kerala the last season, is turning up for Assam this season and he proved his worth with an unbeaten 92 to put his new team slightly ahead.
The southpaw was involved in a 148-run partnership off 249 balls with Karthick who stroked his way to 89 as the visitors mustered 307 all out in 99.4 overs.
Fast-improving left-arm spinner J Suchith was the pick of bowlers for the hosts with figures of 5/104. KSCA XI were 19 without loss in nine overs in their second innings.
Liyan, Avinash shine

KC Avinash (116) and Liyan Khan (107 n.o.) struck a century each and added 219 runs between them to help KSCA Colts make a strong reply against Andhra Cricket Association at Alur (3) ground.

At close on the second day, the Colts were on 255/3 in 76 overs in reply Andhra’s 340 all out.
