Rain lashes Malnad region

A few districts in the State continued to receive rainfall on Thursday. Moderate to heavy rain continued to lash the Malnad region of Shivamogga district on Thursday.

Thirthahalli, Hosanagar, Sagar, Bhadravathi, Shivamogga, some pats of Shikaripur and Sorab received intermittent rain. Several parts of the district witnessed cloudy weather throughout the district. Water level in the Linganamakki dam rose to 1,784.85 feet against the maximum 1,819 feet as the catchment area of the dam received rainfall of 71.2mm.

The inflow of water was 18,903 cusecs and the outflow 2,740 cusecs. Water level in the Bhadra dam rose to 165.30 feet against the maximum 186 feet as the catchment area of the dam received 13 cusecs of rainfall. The inflow of water was 6,089 cusecs and 317 cusecs.

Water level in the Tunga dam has reached the maximum level of 588.24 ft height. In the last 48 hours, Thirthahalli received the highest rainfall of 61.80mm, followed by Sagar 34.20mm, Hosanagar - 33.20mm, Shikaripur - 15.60mm, Sorab -15mm, Shivamogga - 10.60mm and Bhadravathi - 5mm.

Belagavi

After dry spell for a few days, intermittent showers lashed Belagavi on Thursday, while cloudy environs prevailed throughout the day. Showers caught many unawares and people had to run for cover during the downpour. Belagavi city witnessed good rainfall on Wednesday night too.

Uttara Kannada district has been receiving good rainfall for the last few days. The coastal region, the Malnad region and the plains in the district received moderate rainfall on Thursday.

Bhatkal, Honnavar, Kumta, Ankola and Karwar in the coastal region received light showers. While, Sirsi, Siddapur and Yellapur in the Malnad region received scattered rainfall. Haliyal and Dandeli in the plains also received scattered rainfall.
