The National Lok Adalat settled a record amount of Rs 321 crore in 31,638 cases on Saturday.
The Lok Adalat, held by the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA), dealt with cases related to banks, dishonour of cheques and recovery suits.
Ashok Nijagannanavar, Member Secretary, KSLSA said the amount of settlement has been more this time as many cases dealt with recovery of loans, including cheques issued by companies which were not realised.
According to KSLSA, around 18,424 pending cases, including 13,214 pre-litigation cases, were heard and a disputed amount of Rs 321,95,24,692 was settled on a single day. The Lok Adalat also dealt with bank loans given to farmers and settlements were made after the hearing.
