Actress Bhamaa can’t wait for the release of her latest Sandalwood venture ‘Arjuna’ where she plays a character which is opposite of what she is in real life.

“I play an extrovert and my body language and actions are exaggerated. When I first read the script, I didn’t think I would be able to pull off such a role because it required me to really change myself. But I took it as a challenge and now looking back, I’ve enjoyed working in the film,” says Bhamaa, who is paired opposite Prajwal Devaraj in the movie.

Film buffs have seen Bhamaa in both traditional and modern roles. But she was always more on the traditional side and was keen to break free from this image.

She has donned a couple of bold and outgoing characters on screen but she is firm about not doing projects just to grab that extra attention.

However, she says that she saw a lot of scope for performance in ‘Arjuna.’ “How women can change the life of men and bring a lot of colour into their lives is the heart of the story. Here, Prajwal is an introvert and I do everything, I can to change him,” she says.
Talking about how she pulled off the role, she explains that she actually lived the character off screen as well.

“I usually talk less and socialise even lesser but for this character, I took that extra step to mix around with people and start a conversation with strangers. All this in an effort to blend into my onscreen character,” Bhamaa explains.

She points out that this helped weed out a lot of artificiality and bring in some naturality on screen.

Ask Bhamaa about her rapport with her co-stars in the Kannada film industry and she says that she finds it hard to pick and choose. “Working in Kannada films is like working with one big family,” she states.

She also explains that working with Prajwal has indeed been a meaningful experience. “I never felt like I was working with a total stranger. There were times when I wasn’t prepared and Prajwal would wait rather patiently until I was ready. Prajwal’s humility is admirable,” she says.

Bhamaa has no qualms accepting that some of the best characters and offers that have come to her are from the Kannada film industry.
