A 24-year-old youth stabbed his wife and later committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train near Srirampura railway gate on Monday.
According to police, the deceased, John alias Johnson, was a resident of Agrahara village and a ticket collector in a theatre. He was married to Jeevitha, 19, for around 11 months and they have a two-month-old child.
John suspected of his wife for having an extramarital affair and the couple used to often quarrel over the matter. On Monday, around 7 pm, the couple fought again and in a fit of rage, John tried to stab Jeevitha with a knife. She suffered minor injuries and managed to flee the house and approached the Sampigehalli police.
She narrated her ordeal to the police and registered a complaint against John. The police, who went in search of John, were alerted about a body found near the Srirampura railway gate. They went to the spot and identified John. A case of suicide has been registered at the Baiyyppanahalli railway police station.
