Tantrik arrested for gang-rape

Last Updated 13 August 2015, 04:10 IST

A tantrik, who confined a married woman from east Delhi for 19 days and gang-raped her along with his software professional friend, was arrested on Tuesday, police said.

Abdulla Musharaf, a self-proclaimed godman and a resident of Ghaziabad, also filmed the act. He was arrested from Ghaziabad’s Vijay Nagar area after Delhi Police laid a trap.
He repeatedly raped the 23-year-old woman, a resident of Shakarpur, along with the victim’s neighbour Akshay Rajouriya, an IT professional last month, and threatened to kill her brothers with ‘black magic’ if she protested.

After escaping from confinement she lodged an FIR at Shakarpur police station on July 24. In her complaint the victim stated that around one year ago Rajouriya took her to Vijay Nagar in Ghaziabad on the pretext of helping her cure her problems with the help of his tantrik friend. Little did the woman know that she was stepping into a trap.

On July 4 this year, Rajouriya again took the victim to Vijay Nagar, where she was beaten up by him and Musharaf and was confined in a room for 19 days.

During this period she was drugged and sexually assaulted by the duo, police said.
The victim told police that during her confinement Musharaf also brought with him two more people who raped her several times. The tantrik allegedly took money from the people who assaulted her.

According to the victim, her jewellery and mobile phone were taken away by the culprits and she was also made to sign some blank papers before she managed to reach home from Ghaziabad after the 19-day confinement. Police arrested the tantrik at Ghaziabad’s Vijaynagar area.

‘‘Police laid a trap to arrest Musharaf by making a girl talk to him,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (east Delhi), Ajay Kumar.  She asked him to come to her help as she was possessed by evil spirits. Musharaf, walked into the trap and was arrested by Delhi Police at Ghaziabad’s Vijaynagar, the officer said.

With the arrest of Musharaf, police is hoping to find important clues to the whereabouts of the other culprit Rajouriya, who is still at large.
