Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that access to manufacturing stents and other medical aids can help quality healthcare reach people at affordable costs.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) India — Next 2015 Conference in the City on Friday, Siddaramaiah said that it is important to ensure that quality healthcare at affordable cost reaches all. “Manufacturing medical aids indigenously can help make healthcare cost effective. There is also a company that manufactures stents in Mysuru and exports it to other countries,” he added.

The three-day conference organised by Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research (JICSR) in association with the Cardiac Research Foundation and TCT USA, from August 14 to August 16, will see the participation of cardiologists from across the world.

Dr C N Manjunath, Director, JICSR, said that the conference is planned on the lines of the TCT USA conference.

“This is the third edition of the conference. Not all cardiologists can make it to the United States to attend the conference.

However, to make it possible for them to gain access to the best cardiovascular practices, the event has been organised in India also. Besides, relevant guidelines and ethical practices can be promoted,” he added.

The event will see live demonstrations. Interventions in as many as 16 cases from JICSR, three from South Korea and one from Italy would be screened live during the event.
