JOIN USRupa Chanda, Professor of Economics, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB), has been nominated as a member to the International Health Regulations (IHR) 2016 review committee of the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Chanda,who has been with the IIMB since 1997, also served as an economist at the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC, USA. Her research interests concern the WTO, international trade services, regional integration and migration.
Set up by the director general of the WHO, the IHR 2016 review committee will examine International Health Regulations (2005) with an aim towards strengthening global health security. The committee will provide its inputs and recommendations to the World Health Assembly in May 2016. The IHR 2016 review committee comprises a broad of experts in public health, security, law and trade.
