Two girls on Monday committed suicide in a hostel of Narayana College in Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh.

According to police, the duo took the drastic step after failing to handle the study pressure.
With this, the toll of suicide deaths in the campus in the last one year has reached 11.

Kadapa Superintendent of Police Naveen Gulati said the girls, Nandini and Manisha Reddy, skipped the tea break and went to their room (No. 103) to hang themselves from ceiling fans.

While Nandini was the daughter of Paleti Subbarao of Omshanti Nagar in Kadapa, her batchmate Manisha was the daughter of Head Constable Balakrishna Reddy of Bhakarapet, Chittoor.

The college management made a formal complaint with the police around 7.30 pm on Monday and the bodies were shifted to the local RIMS Hospital. Hell broke lose on Tuesday when the guardians and relatives of the two girls and other students ransacked the college property.

They refused to receive the bodies demanding steps against the college management. The police resorted to a mild lathicharge to tame them.Subbarao alleged that his daughter had a note in her hand as was informed by other students but it was not found later. He accused  the police of terming the suicides as result of love failure.
