Protest against 'assault' on village accountant

Last Updated 22 August 2015, 18:36 IST

Taluk Revenue Department employees took out a protest rally against the alleged physical assault on Bhagamandala Circle village accountant Monappa Poojary in the town recently. Wearing  black badges as a sign of protest, the protesters demanded legal action against the accused Kudukuli Bharath.

According to the protesters, Kudukuli Bharath, resident of Bhagamandala, had entered the Nada Kacheri on August 20, scolded the village accountant and even tried to manhandle him. A man, who was nearby, stopped him from doing so. Later, the village accountant filed a complaint charging that Bharath came to the office when he was discharging duty and tried to manhandle him, they added.

The protesters charged that some miscreants are creating problems to sincere workers in the department who work within the boundary of law. The staffer are depressed as they are receiving threats from elected representatives. Stringent action should be taken against the accused and protection should be given to workers, they said.

Meanwhile, Bharath said that the allegation made against him is baseless. At a press conference, he said: “We have our family properties at Tannimaani village. An application has been submitted for a separate account to divide the asset in 2005 itself. The officials have not cleared the file from past ten years. On August 20, they said that I have nothing to do with that document and ordered to get lost from the office. I had returned to Bhagamandala without a reply. They have complained that I had attacked them. I have filed a counter complaint against them.”
