Tata Trusts to develop 264 smart villages

Tata Trusts has signed an MoU with the Andhra Pradesh government to develop 264 villages in Vijayawada parliamentary constituency with the aid of data collected from 2,50,000 households covering 1 million people.

Web-based techniques were used to collect data with the help of a 128 point questionnaire. Funds will be gathered from different government schemes as well as by Tata Trusts.

“We will be working with the government in the areas of social activity, mitigation of malnutrition, improvement of health, and creating greater livelihood,” said former chief of Tata Group, Ratan Tata.

He also said that Andhra Pradesh (AP) would prosperous as he had full faith in the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

“Though it would be arrogant to forecast industrial growth right away, we are well acquainted and experienced with the leadership of the state and support its aspirations to develop a new capital,” Tata added.

For the first time, such a huge number of villages are being developed by a single Trust in Andhra Pradesh. “This will set an example in the country as it will be mentored by industry titan Ratan Tata,” said Naidu.
